May 232008

Due to how busy life has been with my final days at my job and a midterm I haven’t posted lately about anything exciting.

Today was a day off which I decided to enjoy fully. My new mattress was being delivered today and after convincing the delivery men to set up the frame and everything I decided to spend a portion of the day lost in self pleasure.

I grabbed some of my favourite toys (snake bit kit, tens unit, Hitachi and an anal plug) and after orgasming over and over again I took a bit of a break to refresh myself and relax. I was just starting up again and just at the point of orgasm when a wasp flew in my bedroom window.

I tend to freak out a bit when it comes to anything that can sting me. It’s not life threating or anything close to that but my skin will swell up to an uncomfortable level. As soon as I noticed it fly in, I pulled my nipple clamps off (still a bit tender from that move) my Hitachi went across the room and I ducted beside my bed watching this little insect fly around.

After it fly around the light and landed in it, it appeared dead so it was my chance to make an escape and leave the room.

At that point I decided to take a break and get started on my laundry.

May is National Masturbation Month. What a better way to celebrate the coming of spring with pleasuring yourself.

A friend brought my attention to Masturbate-a-thon which is a fundraiser with the proceeds benefiting the Center for Sex & Culture in San Francisco, California. If you can’t make it to the event, you can participate on-line within the comfort of your own home. Unfortunately, I have a training session that weekend so I won’t be able to. However, next year I’ll be sure to enter and raise money and awareness for a wonderful cause.

There is a lot of information about the event, which I encourage you to check out as well as the Center for Sex & Culture. It’s a non-profit sex education center in America that put on classes, workshops and so much more.

There is still a lot of stigma and taboo surrounding masturbation. Growing up and even in my teenage years it was never brought up in school or around the house. Growing up in a Catholic household, the beginning of my sexual education was abstinence based. We were never taught about safe sex or even masturbation. They tried to scary us with implying that the only thing that will happen if you have sex is pregnancy or a sexual transmitted disease. Luckily though we learned though other resources (mostly our friends siblings) about various forms of protection however most of that information was flawed in one way or another. However, masturbation was never talked about. We had to discover it on our own and it was always something that was hidden. It wasn’t until graduating high school that I became comfortable with myself and was able to explore various forms of sexual express including masturbation or BDSM.

Things are starting to change which is a positive sign however there are numerous barriers blocking safer sex education. It’s important for people to have access to safer sex information and for the resources to be non-judgmental. Which is why I support organizations like this. I wish I had information like this when I was growing up.

Now to celebrate the month of May in my own way by climbing into bed with some of my favourite toys. I encourage you to do the same. Enjoy yourself and the safest sex that there is.
