The Josephine arrived and I couldn’t of been happier. It’s a unique paddle that provides a nice change to your typical impact items. Plus, it’s hand crafted by a Canadian company. Who doesn’t love supporting small independent kinksters.
“When you first pull this wicker wonder out of the package, you might think they’ve sent you a toy: at under a foot in length, it looks like a scaled-down version of a real carpet beater. Which it is,” PG says. The Josephine designs remains me of a Celtic design. It’s mostly black with a metallic burgundy strand that makes it stand out. It’s made out of leather with a braided handle, according to the description on Trinity Romance it’s a lovely French Grapevine braid that provides a nice grip and really stands out. 
It’s really tough and firm and provides the perfect handle to inflict your will.
As beautiful as the Josephine is, the real test is how it performs. PG thinks, “It wallops way above its weight. The open woven construction lets the wind of its passage whistle through, so no buffering cushion of air forms between it and any flesh it’s directed at. We whacked Alpine’s notoriously hard-to-mark bottom with it, and began raising delicious red marks from the first blows. An excellent toy that delivers a wide, stinging blow, without the need to carry around a tell-tale tennis racket case.” From a bottoms point of view, I loved it. You can use it as a light weight paddle with minimal force or put some weight in it and make your partner squeal. It has a bit of a sting but it’s mostly provides the warm thuddy feeling that a variety of bottoms, submissives etc. love. I tried to test it out on PG however I could only get a couple of light smacks before he would wrestle it away from me.
