Review: Super Strap Love Ties Red

I love trying new sex toys, I’ve been lucky enough to receive some wonderful toys but unfortunately sometimes they aren’t all winners. However that is the fun of reviewing, trying new things and seeing what works and what doesn’t. BDSM & fetish toys are one of my favourite and when Sextoy.com offered me the Super Strap Love Ties, I was looking forward to trying something new.

It didn’t really work for me, we weren’t able to get it tight enough without cutting off circulation, I think PG says it best, ” I love the idea of “pevertables” – vanilla things repurposed for kinky use. It can make a trip the hardware store or a walk down the kitchenwares aisle so much more fun. So I really wanted to like these stretchy rubber strips of hose. They reminded me of the skipping ropes I did my first bondage with, tying up six-year old girls (before you start googling the FBI’s contact info., I was also six at the time. Just a precocious pervert.)

But not all my personal experiments at creating new kink toys are successes. Neither are all commercial ones. Sadly, this is one of the flops. The strips have much more stretch and slip than the skipping ropes of my youth. This makes it very hard to place a knot at exactly the point you want it. As a result you tie too tightly to compensate. Combined with the way the stretch puts constant pressure on the skin, even if the subject is not struggling, this creates a tourniquet that wouldn’t be good to leave on a limb for any length of time. The alternative is a tie that’s laughably loose, which the subject will pop out of through deliberate bratinesses or through sheer excitement at a critical moment. I even tried to judo the material’s weakness – the stretch – into a strength by tying a breast harness on Alpine with it. My theory was I could pull parts of it back to snap in a nice painful way against her. Sadly, it was underwhelming.

We didn’t actually try tying these strips to the D-rings of existing wrist or ankle cuffs. But given their stretch, I’m picturing a tragic-comic kink scene: an excited sub bound spread-eagle on the bed pulls an hand or foot to the limit of the tie’s stretch. It whips back under the tension of the elastic, punching or booting the Top in the head…

The dedicated latex fetishist might like these hoses for how they accessorize with their other stuff. For the non-specialist, they’re a bust. So I’ve gotta give them an “A” for ingenuity, but a “D” for execution.”
