Review: Rubber Slave Hood

Being a big fan of breath control, rubber and restrictions I was excited to find out that I would be receiving a rubber slave hood.

Once my hood arrived I couldn’t wait to test it out. I was going to wait for my next play date but I couldn’t help but try it on. One evening when I was home alone, I struggled into it, placed some silicone lube on it and admired how I looked in the mirror. I loved how I lost all sense of identity, only being able to see my eyes. I decided to be safe and quickly took it off, as I noticed I was losing my breath and it was tightening around my throat.

I decide to wait till I was playing with my partner until I tried it again. On a couple of different occasions, PG and I tried it together, but with limited success. The neck of the hood was too tight, restricting both my breath and flow of blood around my throat too much. (PG says: Alpine and I both enjoy breath play – we do hand-over-mouth and water bondage, but I was really concerned that the way the hood restricted Alpine’s neck would block the carotid artery, which can lead to instant unconsciousness and possible brain damage.) I could breath in the hood, but that, combined with the restricted blood flow meant we couldn’t use it for more than five minutes without me having to ask for it to be removed. It worked perfectly as a gag and also worked to block hearing. I think the too-snug fit might be a combination of a couple of things: my thick hair and my larger head. I’ve been trying to find someone who is smaller (I’m 5″7″ or with very thin hair) that would be willing to try it but I haven’t had any luck so far. To some, it’s too extreme.

I recently tried it solo again. But this time, I placed a thick collar around my neck and made sure the rubber ran outside it. I found the tightness around my neck was eliminated and I could wear the hood for over half an hour, including admiring the look of it and bringing myself to orgasm. I loved it and couldn’t be happier with it.

After playing it with it for a while and on multiple occasions, I learned a few vital tricks. You really have to stretch it out to get it on, take a deep breath and quickly pull it over your head. If it gets stuck, take it off and try again. The hood should be washed in warm clean water with no soap or detergents. Wipe off excess water with a soft towel and lay flat or hang to dry. You can lightly dust it with talc before storing. You can polish it with silicone lube or polish. As well, you should keep it away from light and heat as it can fade.

Please be careful when playing with toys like this. The rubber slave hood only has two small air holes (smaller then a hole punch) and no mouth hole. It’s perfect for breath play but use caution and be smart.

I really loved the look of the rubber slave hood. It’s strong, durable and seems like it will last a long time. but unfortunately it didn’t fit ideally. Still, it’s a one-size-fits-all. I’m going to continue to experiment and try to find a way to make it work (besides using a collar), start shopping for a bigger one or shave my head to get of my thick hair. (PG says: That’s a joke.
